Hey guys, welcome back! For today’s topic, we are diving into makeup. I learnt what makeup was from seeing my mum and my sister get ready for work. I still remember how fascinated I was seeing them get ready every morning doing their makeup. After I started work, I still remember trying to put on a full face of makeup which just made me look like a clown. So here are some of my tips and tricks I have learnt and received over the past couple of years.
Trust me when I say this, a good primer goes a long way. Primers are made to make your makeup look flawless and your skin look less textured. We all face textured skin, sometimes in the form of tiny bumps or the other times in the form of open pores and etc. Even if you don’t think you would want to incorporate a primer in a makeup routine, a good morning skincare routine can be a substitute for this. I have an entire blog about my favorite skincare products under Rupees 500/. Please check out this link for more information https://simswaythroughlife.in/2020/10/11/10-skincare-products-under-500-rupees/
My favorite primer / moisturizer is the WOW Skin Science Hyaluronic Acid Water Gel. This really grips your makeup nicely and makes it look flawless while also providing your skin the hydration it needs. This retails for Rupees 599/- and you can get yours from https://www.nykaa.com/wow-skin-science-hyaluronic-acid-water-gel-50ml/p/709547?ptype=product&productId=709547&skuId=709547&pps=1
Not being able to find my correct foundation shade has always been a big hassle for me. So that why I always recommend getting one from a store where you can clearly see your shade. Foundation evens your skin tone and blurs out any imperfections you have. For daily use, I prefer a light coverage foundation that makes my skin look matte the whole day. You can also use a BB Cream if you are not comfortable with a foundation.
One of my favorite foundations is the Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Perfect Cover Foundation. This one gives you a soft matte look and doesn’t have too much heavy coverage. This retails for Rupees 475/- and you can get yours from https://www.nykaa.com/lakme-9-to-5-primer-matte-perfect-cover-foundation/p/574201?pps=1&productId=574201&ptype=product&skuId=574194
For my third step, I like to use a compact to set my foundation in place. You can reapply a compact as how you want throughout the day if you have oily skin type. This step will help you keep your skin matte the whole day and keep the foundation from smearing everywhere.
The powder I recommend is Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder. This powder is highly rated and gives you a natural matte look for more than 6 hours. You can get yours from https://www.nykaa.com/rimmel-stay-matte-pressed-powder/p/8757?categoryId=1075&pps=10&productId=8757&ptype=product&skuId=8756
An eyeliner can amp up your look really quickly. It defines your eyes and makes you look more awake. It creates a more symmetrical look of your eyes that can in turn make your eye look larger and alluring. Eyeliners can come in different types such a liquid, pencil, gel etc. My favorite type is gel eyeliner. Gel eyeliners can be very easy to apply and do not budge once they set. They also give a matte look unlike certain liquid liners that can stay shiny after they dry.
My personal favorite gel eyeliner is the Maybelline New York Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner. This comes with a brush which is very convenient to use. This retails for Rupees 500/- and you can get yours from https://www.nykaa.com/maybelline-eye-studio-lasting-drama-gel-eyeliner-black/p/8997?ptype=product&productId=8997&skuId=8997&pps=1
Last but not the least, my favorite part of a makeup routine is a lipstick. A good lipstick can tie up your entire look together, it can make you feel confident and hide any imperfections with a gorgeous color. For me personally, I have suffered with pigmentation on my lips for a long time, so it is bound that this would be my favorite step. I have an entire post about lipstick and a few of my favorites under Rupees 500/- that have really been a deal-breaker for me.
